RBC Becomes The First Bank To Launch Contactless Payment Technology Across The Caribbean

RBC, which operates banking services in many countries across the Caribbean, will be enhancing its Merchant Services by enabling RBC point-of-sale devices with contactless payment acceptance, or “Tap” as it is more commonly referred to.

Customers will be able to use contactless-enabled payment cards from any issuer at RBC point-of-sale devices.

Contactless payment technology is a secure method to purchase products or services via contactless-enabled payment cards, using Near Field Communication (NFC). It offers significant advantages to both merchants and their customers by improving the convenience and speed of smaller payment transactions. This new technology facilitates purchases with a contactless-enabled payment card by allowing our merchants’ customers to simply “Tap to Pay” for a purchase on RBC NFC-enabled point-of-sale devices.

“RBC is serious about innovation and this investment is just one of the ways we are enhancing our digital capabilities across the Caribbean,” said Rob Johnston, Head, Caribbean Banking, RBC.

RBC is the first bank in the Caribbean to offer this for merchants across the region.
