Galina Sotirova has assumed duties as the new World Bank Country Manager for Jamaica from July 1st, 2015. In her new position, Sotirova will lead the World Bank’s day-to-day dialogue with the Jamaican government, key stakeholders and development partners, and foster a strong partnership to help Jamaica achieve the goals of promoting sustainable and inclusive growth and reducing poverty.
A Bulgarian national, Sotirova joined the Bank in 1994 as a human development specialist and has held various positions in several regions of the Bank, her most recent assignments being country manager for Burkina Faso and country operations advisor for the Caribbean.
Sotirova holds graduate degrees in International Relations, Economics, and Public Policy from the University of Sofia, John’s Hopkins University SAIS, and the London School of Economics.
